Caitlin McGeehan, RN, BSN, CHPN, CCRN
Caitlin McGeehan is a Palliative Care Nurse at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH). In 2003,
she received her BA in English from Bucknell University. She than served as a Peace Corps
Volunteer in Mali, West Africa where she worked on potable water, nutrition, and health and
hygiene projects. These enriching experiences prompted her to return home and complete
a BS in Nursing at The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Practicing since 2007, Caitlin has
extensive experience caring for people with serious illness, specifically advanced heart
failure. Her introduction to palliative care happened organically during her 10 years in the
CCU as she helped patients navigate complex medical decision making in the setting of
progressive and end-stage disease. In 2019, Caitlin joined the Johns Hopkins Palliative
Care team where she continues her work as a seasoned clinician, expert communicator,
and formidable patient advocate. To round out her nursing scope, she is an active member
of the JHH Clinical Ethics Team and enjoys thinking and writing about the evolving
relationship between critical illness and medical ethics
